Joe O’Connor

Expertise: Healthcare payment models and payer-provider analytics

As EVP of product and strategy, Joe O’Connor is responsible for the vision and conceptual design of Qcentive’s value-based payment solutions.

Joe began his 25-year career in accounting and consulting, then moved over to healthcare to help payers transition to new provider payment models. Since then, he has served as an entrepreneur, payer executive, independent consultant, and creator of health IT products and services.

Prior to joining Qcentive, Joe co-founded and served as senior advisor for Remedy Partners, a CMS-designated awardee convener under the CMS Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BCPI) program. Prior to that, he was VP and entrepreneur-in-residence at OptumInsight, part of UnitedHealth Group.

Previously, Joe founded and served as CEO of Integrated Health Care Information Services (IHCIS)—a population health analytics and predictive modeling company acquired by Ingenix (OptumInsight)—and as corporate director of medical economics for Healthsource, a managed care plan, which was acquired by Cigna.

Joe is a limited partner and investment committee member for Converge Venture Partners.

He earned his M.S. in evaluative clinical sciences from Dartmouth Medical School, along with an M.S. in computer information services and a B.S. in accountancy from Bentley University. Joe is a trustee at the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum and participates in several non-profit organizations.
